UmeDNA | Finding family in the digital world – DNA ADOPTEES WORLDWIDE
What to expect
Hosted by UmeDNA, these online workshops provide an introduction to the world of providers, systems, and pathways to conducting DNA searches for biological family.
Over the course of the 2-3 hour session, you will learn:
- The services available for testing and matching and how they interact.
- What to look for and avoid when contributing your DNA to databases.
- The systems in place to store, distribute, and search for DNA matches.
- The breadth and limitations of different searching services.

Kerri Young
UMeDNA Workshop host and coordinator
As a genealogical researcher and family historian, I specialize in helping individuals affected by adoption, unknown parentage, foundling cases, and foster care rediscover their roots. By combining traditional paper-trail research with modern DNA analysis, I unravel complex family histories and restore lost connections. This work often requires a detective’s mindset—piecing together fragmented records, interpreting subtle clues, and delving into both local archives and global databases to uncover hidden lineages and long-lost stories.
